The extension substantially increases the schools capacity to serve the local community with 8 new
classrooms, two group rooms and toilet cores, whilst the refurbishment creates a new entrance, offices, and flexible hall accommodation that can accommodate worship, school assemblies and events.

The design achieves BREEAM Very Good Accreditation and ensures high levels of sustainability across a broad range of issues including; management, health and well-being, energy, transport water usage, choice of materials, reduction of waste, land use and ecology and preventing pollution. The form and layout of the building permits a natural cross ventilation strategy for the classrooms and the windows have been carefully designed with manually opening louvered panels at high and low level, to ensure adequate access to fresh air in both Summer and Winter. Large double glazed windows will allow in plenty of natural light so that the need for artificial lighting in the daytime is kept to a minimum.

The scheme was constructed of structural insulated panels (SIPS) and incorporates a green roof and photovoltaic panels to generate on site electricity.
