Wilkinson’s Commitment to Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance Positive Progression

Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance

Our values

Here at Wilkinson Construction, we believe in long term relationships and have adopted a set of 8 core values that underpin our philosophy to business.

Equality

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We’re committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in our workforce to recruit and retain high calibre staff that reflect all sectors of society. Our objective is to have a workplace that is free from bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all. We also pledge to offer our services, without any kind of discrimination to our customers and the public.

Resources

Resources

We are aware of our own limitations and won’t commit to more than we can reasonably expect to deliver.

We will deploy resources sufficient to respond to the demands made upon us within a timescale that our customers might reasonably expect. If we cannot meet a deadline for any reason we will let the client know as soon as possible and agree an alternative.

Customer Care

Our products and services meet the quality standards we set in consultation with our Clients. On the rare occasion a client is unhappy we will take responsibility to rectify any issues within our control. It isn’t just the clients problem – it’s ours to solve where we can.

Communication

We communicate with our clients and staff in sociable, plain language, clearly stating the options and choices available to them.

Collaboration

Collaboration

We actively seek to collaborate with and assist selected partners who share our vision, with the belief that givers gain.

Environment

Environment & Community

We constantly review our practices and procedures in an attempt to protect and improve the environment and support the communities in which we work.

Ethics

Ethics

We act with integrity at all times and ensure that we do not allow our views, interests or own gain to come above the welfare of our clients. We shall endeavour to be the thought leaders and establish or support best practice throughout our industry.

H&S

Health & Safety

We shall ensure as far as reasonably practical, the health, safety and welfare at work of all our staff, clients and members of the public.

Sustainability Statement

Since our establishment in 2009, we have dedicated ourselves to improving the construction industry with a strong emphasis on sustainability, safety, and community development. We’re not just about providing high-quality building control services; we’re actively working towards creating a safer and more sustainable built environment. This commitment is evident in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, sustainability isn’t just an option—it’s a necessity. As a company, we at Wilkinson Construction Consultants recognise this need and are playing our part to shape a more inclusive, sustainable future. We’re a UK-based construction and fire safety specialist, and we’re aligning our operations with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These SDGs serve as a blueprint for creating a better, more sustainable future for all, tackling global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

In the spirit of these goals, we at Wilkinson Construction Consultants have developed a CSR strategy that aligns with these ideals. While every one of the 17 SDGs is crucial to global progress, we have identified several where we believe our influence can really make a notable difference and focus on these.

Supporting mental and physical wellbeing

At Wilkinsons, we are a small business and want to show fellow SMEs in the construction industry that they can also provide support to their staff even though we don’t have large corporate budgets. Here is some of what we do to support our colleagues, network and neighbours:

  • We have engaged with Mid Kent Mind, who also have some fantastic free resources and share their advice and tools with our team.
  • We have invested in the Perkbox platform to celebrate and recognise employees for their work achievements and thank them for being awesome with access to discounts and offers they can enjoy. Perkbox also helps to support mental health and well-being, with features including workout videos, meditations and sleep stories.
  • We also offer all Wilkinson’s employees Benenden Health Cover which offers a 24-hour Mental Health Support Service. We have also engaged Whitcombe HR as our HR Partner, who provide us with Natalie, a Mental Health First Aider.

Self-care is so incredibly important when it comes to looking after our own mental health. We created a series of 8 videos on our Youtube channel titled ‘Wellness at Work’, which gives tips and advice on looking after your mental health at work. These cover topics such as mindfulness, saying no to your boss, and destressing driving – head over to our youtube channel and watch now: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzmP3WVCdPneIhTRT1Pge8UX0u8j3i8SG

Business Travel

Travel is a necessity in our business, but we monitor all business travel and offset the carbon produced at carbonfootprint.com

We aim to reduce the mileage per employee per year.
